We offer high-quality preschool programming!

ECE Programming Options and Family (Partnerships) Involvement

A menu of programming options includes full day and half day preschool to meets the diverse needs of the families in the Aurora Public Schools Community.

The Early Childhood Education Department strives to involve the family by emphasizing the important role they play in their child's education and support families in their roles as nurturers and as their child's first teacher.

Evaluating Program Quality

APS Early Childhood Education Program is licensed by the state of Colorado and engages in program quality evaluations through Colorado Shines. A Colorado Shines rating (1-5) means that a program is licensed, in good standing and meets health and safety standards.

APS Early Childhood Education Department submitted the necessary materials for recognition of a school district alternative pathway in the Colorado Shines Quality Rating and Improvement System. Following a formal review, APS ECE programs have been approved to be recognized in Colorado Shines at a Quality Level 4. Click here for more information.

Colorado Shines rates the quality of child care programs based on how well each program:

  • Supports children's health and safety
  • Ensures the staff are well-trained and effective
  • Provides a learning environment that teaches children new skills
  • Helps parents become partners in their child's learning
  • Has good leadership and business practices

Once a program gets a rating, Colorado Shines has tools to help the program continue to improve its quality.
