Accelerating Students Through Concurrent Enrollment (ASCENT) allows for students to continue on full time at a community college or technical college for a 5th year. APS pays both tuition and fees.

TREP (Teacher Recruitment Education & Preparation Program)
The Teacher Recruitment Education & Preparation Program (TREP) is a fifth and sixth year high school program that allows students pursuing a teaching career to participate in concurrent enrollment coursework the two years after 12th grade. Aurora Public Schools TREP Scholars receive up to two free years of college & participate in support programming at Community College of Aurora or Metropolitan State University of Denver.

The Red Fox College Access & Success Program is a partnership between the Community College of Aurora and Aurora Public Schools with funding from the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Program with the goal to increase the number of APS students who continue at CCA.

Advanced Placement Courses
Advanced Placement courses are those which are sponsored by the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) for which high school students can obtain college credit through the appropriate CEEB Advanced Placement Examination. These courses relate specifically to those students who have shown achievement in specific areas beyond the normal course of study. A student interested in an Advanced Placement Examination should confer with a school counselor.

International Baccalaureate Program
International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes offer a rigorous academic framework with a worldwide orientation and focus on the entire student. IB provides students with a balanced education in languages, social studies, experimental sciences, mathematics and electives.
College Credit Opportunities and Career Technical Education at Pickens Technical College
College credit is available for many programs offered at Pickens Technical College. Agreements allow students to transfer credits earned for Pickens Tech certificates toward an associate degree conferred by the respective community college. Students should consult an academic advisor for further information and consult the transfer guides and catalogs of the respective institutions.
Students who desire to complete an Associate of Applied Science Degree Program must complete the technical classes for a designated occupational certificate at Pickens Tech and general education and/or other degree requirements at the participating community college from which the degree is earned.
